Song 42 comes by way of yet another collaboration with Mr. Pat Wescott. The first, Cease Fire, was one of (if not the) first collaboration for this project.
I’ll keep this short. Pat’s a good friend, and he puts his heart into every musical project he gets into. The man worked on this thing for me for quite a while and the result is, well, rather cool. So let’s give you the “Who done what”…. it’s pretty easy on this one… Rhythm Tracks – BP, Melodies, Leads, Lyrics and Vocals – PW.
Check out Pat’s Band Elder Statesmen for some really really cool stuff. CDBaby seems to think their album “Hail Cannon” is one of the best of 2009, I happen to agree.
Enough already, let’s get to the rock! Please enjoy “Vamp Rusted”

Well, that was a nice break. As you can see I haven’t published anything for about a month and a half. Holidays are not conducive to locking oneself in the studio. Moving on…
Song 41, “Mission Statement” was written in and recorded in about one hour with a drum loop and then shipped off to Mr. Mike Hoff for some real deal skins to be added. A day later, (this morning) The track returned home, and after about an hour of writing and recording the vocals and some final tinkering with the mix… here we are.
I’m not sure what I was originally going for here, I actually wrote the end of the song first and worked backwards from there. When I was working it out on guitar it was very “verse, chorus, verse, chorus, ending”… but as I worked with it, i decided, nah, that doesn’t work for me… and decided to do a very linear “part 1, part 2, part 3″ arrangement.
I digress… hope you dig it.

Lyrics:
Its been a while since I loved you
thats what Sam Mcpheeters said
its been a while since I loved you,
as he ran out the door
the floor almost fell thru,
oh those were the days
running out the front door
running thru the parking lot
right past the mercedes benz
right past the punk kids
right past the goth chick
right next to the lady who lived next door
Song 40 comes to you by way of collaboration with Greg Anderson. I first approached Greg to collaborate when I started this project at the end of March. In the process, ended up joining his real life band, now known as ex-Replicas.
Six months later, still no 140 collaboration… until this past Tuesday night. Working in the studio on some ex-Replicas tune, Greg says, “oh by the way, I have something for you for that 140 thing.”, does 3 tracks, 2 guitar, one vocal, one take each, and a directive… “Do what you want with it.” So I did. A drum track, a bass line, a guitar part of my own and some backup vocals later, “Sky Parlor Long Gone”.
Lyrics by Greg Anderson, inspired by a Born Against performance at the Loft in Baltimore many years ago.

The title pretty much says it all. I’ve been trying to break out of writers block for a few weeks now, and I’ve been slowly creeping out of it with a bunch of what I’ll call “ditty” type songs… Just repetitive bits that I can’t get out of my head. Here’s the thing, if I don’t get them out of my head I’m not going to be able to move on. So, this is the first one to come out of my head and into the studio.
Actually turned out quite cool. Hope you dig it. -bp

... Is 140 Songs, all 140 seconds or less. My influences vary from all forms of rock; indie, alt, grunge, punk, I dig it. I also love bands that challenge the conventional, and that's what I'm trying to do here.
I write and post new songs every week, so come back often and download some free music! -bp
